Bought by King and Calhoun, LLC (aka PrimeSouth Group) last year for $12 million, the prominent Charleston corner location planned for offices, retail, parking, and luxury condominiums seems to have been halted by the downturn in the real estate economy – just as the Civil War stopped construction on the famous Marion Square Park at the Corner of King Street and Calhoun in 1861. No direct comment from the developers why their plans have been delayed for up to six years. Millennium Music is the major retail tenant in the current building – Let’s hope it’s not another millennium before we see progress on this prominent downtown locale.
