East-West Partners to Move Forward on Downtown Charleston Development

It looks like there is some movement on the downtown Charleston Concord Park site by developer East-West Cumberland Park Associates. The developer is planning on closing on the next section of the property, completing the purchase of the northern section of the park – located at the corner of Calhoun Street and Concord Street. A 60-room hotel, restaurant, and spa health club are planned for that parcel, with residential development of 100+ condominiums planned or the southern end of the parcel at Laurens Street. The troubled, luxury condos at Anson House are located across the street at Concord and Laurens.

Only 3 Properties North of $1 Million Sell on Folly Beach This Year

Folly's Center Street Restaurant Sells for $1.3M

In a sign of the times, only three properties on Folly Beach north of $1 million have changed hands in 2010. And of those three, the most expensive one is a commercial restaurant, the former Seashell Restaurant, on Center Street.

1. 41 Center Street, the former Seashell, sold in July for $1.3 million. It was completely renovated in 2002.

2. 1709 East Ashley Avenue sold for $1.275 million in April. This 4 bedroom, 3,000 sf beach rental was built in 2008.

3. A contemporary 3,500 sf second-row home, at 316 East Artic, built in 2005 sold for $1.08 million in June.

Charleston’s Monza Wins Best Pizza in South Carolina says USA Today

If you haven’t stopped by downtown Charleston’s Monza lately, you might be waiting in line since USA Today declared it the best pizza spot in the state. The competition was stiff as only one pizza parlor was chosen from each state. USA Today says, “try the spicy Fangio with homemade sausage and peppers or the Vanwall Special topped with local white shrimp.” Just another great reason to live in Charleston.

Monza is at 451 King in the Upper King Street district in historic downtown Charleston.

It’s been a while, but here’s an update on the most expensive home sales in the Charleston area in October 2010:

1. 19 Beachwood East in Wild Dunes on the Isle of Palms. This 5,000 sf, 7 bedroom home sold for $3,100,000. Most recent list price was $3,750,000.

2. 24 Eugenia Avenue on Kiawah Island. This 6 bedroom, 4,800 sf home sold for $2.1 million.

3. 227 Station 31 on Sullivan’s Island sold for $2.0 million. A well-built home with more than 5,000 square feet.

4. 2257 Myrtle Avenue on Sullivan’s island sold for $1.250 million.

5. Circa-1790 downtown Charleston residence at 98 Church Street sold for $1,250,000.

6. 2408 Ion Avenue on Sullivan’s Island sold for $1.5 million.

7. 2 Whispering Pines, a bank-owned property, on the Isle of Palms went for $1.5 million.

8. A marshfront home in the I’On neighborhood in Mount Pleasant, at 18 Hopetown Road, sold for $1.4 million.

9. 110 Ashley Avenue, a short sale on the downtown peninsula, sold for $1.26 million.

10. A deepwater home in Dunes West in Mount Pleasant on Colonel Vanderhorst Circle, sold for $1.21 million.
